Why
Moving Bluesky into the brand navigation bar made it stand out. We want the option to use recognizable social brand colors, rather than giving every social icon the same inherited color.
Proposed controls
For each social icon, in either the navigation bar or Discourse header:
- Choose Theme, Social brand color or Custom.
- Set separate normal and hover/focus colors, with color pickers and direct entry in Appearance.
- Default new, recognized social icons to their brand color, with theme fallback for other icons.
- Preserve existing configurations and their current appearance.
Feedback wanted
Should hover keep the social brand color or use a different color? Which defaults would work best against your forum’s background? Share the social icons and examples you would use.
This is proposed, not implemented or scheduled. Published RC4 is unchanged. Follow the Brand Navigation roadmap for status updates.
